The Climate Advisory Board of the innovation network for climate-neutral and climate-silient construction solid UNIT Deutschland e.V. has accepted Prof. Dr. Lucio Blandini as a new member. Thomas Zawalski, managing director of solid UNIT Germany, welcomed him personally to the new position on the climate advisory board during an inaugural visit to the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) in Stuttgart on the 27th of July.
Prof. Blandini is head of ILEK and a member of the board of Werner Sobek AG. As an architect and civil engineer, he has applied his knowledge of lightweight construction and life cycle assessment to numerous projects in recent years.
"We are very pleased that with Prof. Blandini we were able to gain another member for the work of the Climate Advisory Council and that we will be able to use his expertise on the topic of climate-resilient urban habitats in the future," explains Thomas Zawalski.
"It has never been more urgent to fight for the achievment of climate goals," adds Prof. Dr. Lucio Blandini. "However, the climate crisis also offers a unique opportunity to accelerate the transformation towards sustainable and circular construction. Solid UNIT can make a significant contribution with its focus on the innovative use of mineral materials."
The Climate Advisory Board consists of planning and political personalities who contribute their expertise to the existing innovation network solid UNIT. The committee, which has eight members now, has an advisory function and is intended to provide innovative impetus for the modernization of the construction industry together with the solid UNIT board.

solid UNIT, the network for innovative solid construction, is an association of representatives of the construction industry and the building materials industry as well as universities, research institutes, chambers and start-ups in the sector. The aim of solid UNIT is to promote innovations in research and development through closer networking of the partners and to increasingly bring them into use on construction sites. At the heart of the network are so-called network teams, each of which work together on specific topics, such as CO2 savings or sustainable resource management. In addition, solid UNIT provides information on the innovation potential of mineral construction and presents sustainable example projects.
